AC/DC, AEROSMITH, SKID ROW Members Have NASCAR Racing On Their Minds
April 29, 2005Susan Guyett of IndyStar.com has issued the following report:
A quartet of rock stars — Brian Johnson of AC/DC (photo),Brad Whitford of AEROSMITH, Jesse Dupree of JACKYL and Rachel Bolan of SKID ROW — headed to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Thursday (April 28) with NASCAR racing on their minds.
Some of the rockers are true gear heads, according to Chris McKee of the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Johnson and Whitford collect cars and follow all forms of auto racing.
But the musicians were there for more than love of the sport. A film crew was on hand, so their exploits on the 2.5-mile oval can be turned into a Speed Channel special, McKee said.
Instructors and authentic NASCAR-style stock cars will be at the track until Sunday, giving the rest of the world a chance to ride along or ride alone. Three laps as a passenger goes for $125; a solo trip of eight laps costs $499. Those with money to burn can consider the 24-lap solo trip that costs $2,099.
